According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigation Cold Case Unit, 46-year-old Roscoe Donnel Harris was shot in the chest on the left side with a single shot .22 caliber rifle on July 6, 1963 in Casey, Iowa.

His murder went unsolved.

Roscoe Donnell Harris was born on April l6, 1917 in Baker, Iowa, to Mabel Irene Rooker and Fred Harris. He had four siblings: Thora Harris Armstrong, Dale Frederick Harris, Mable Eileen Harris McKibbin, and Thelma May Harris.

Harris enlisted in the United States Army on July 25, 1941 and served during WWII. He was buried in Dalmanutha Cemetery in Guthrie County.
